Privacy Policy for CalmPaws

CalmPaws ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application that plays looping calming and masking audio for pets during fireworks, thunderstorms, and other loud-noise events. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the App, how it is used, and the choices you have.

By using CalmPaws you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Summary

We do not require an account, and we do not ask you for your name, email address, phone number, or precise location.
The App stores a few small preferences only on your device (such as your volume setting and how much free playback time you've used).
The App uses Google AdMob to show ads and Google Play Billing / RevenueCat to handle optional subscriptions and the one-time "Remove ads" purchase. These third parties collect limited technical data as described below.

1. Information stored only on your device

The following settings are saved locally on your device (using the operating system's standard local storage) and are not transmitted to us or anyone else:

Your selected playback volume.
Your cumulative free playback time (used to apply the free-usage limit).
Whether you have purchased "Remove ads."

This information stays on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its data.

2. Information collected by third-party services

To provide ads and process optional purchases, CalmPaws includes the following third-party software development kits (SDKs). These services may collect certain information automatically:

a) Advertising — Google AdMob

CalmPaws displays interstitial (full-screen) ads provided by Google AdMob. The App is configured to request non-personalized ads only. Even so, Google may collect and process the following to deliver ads, cap how often you see them, prevent fraud, and produce aggregate reporting:

A device advertising identifier (e.g., Android Advertising ID).
IP address and general (coarse) location derived from it.
Device and app information (such as device model, operating system version, and language).

You can reset or limit ad tracking at any time in your device settings ("Ads" / "Privacy" → reset or delete advertising ID, opt out of ad personalization).

Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Purchasing "Remove ads" (or an active premium subscription) stops the App from requesting or displaying ads.

b) Purchases & subscriptions — Google Play Billing and RevenueCat

If you choose to make a purchase (a subscription or the one-time "Remove ads" unlock), the transaction is handled by Google Play Billing, and entitlements are managed through RevenueCat. To process and validate purchases, these services may collect:

A randomly generated, anonymous app user ID.
Purchase history and subscription status for this App.
Basic device and country information.

We never receive or store your full payment card details — payment is processed entirely by Google Play.

3. How information is used

Information collected through the services above is used to:

Deliver and measure ads, and limit how often they appear.
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and invalid activity.
Process purchases and keep your subscription / "Remove ads" status accurate across reinstalls (via "Restore Purchases").
Maintain and improve the reliability of the App.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build an advertising profile of you for our own purposes.

4. Permissions the App uses

CalmPaws requests only the permissions needed for audio playback:

Foreground service / media playback and wake lock — to keep audio playing reliably in the background and on the lock screen.

These permissions are not used to collect personal information.

5. Children's privacy

CalmPaws is intended for a general audience (pet owners) and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us so we can address it.

6. Data retention and security

We do not maintain our own servers or user accounts, so we do not retain personal information about you. Data collected by the third-party services above is retained and protected according to their respective privacy policies. You can clear the App's local data at any time by clearing the App's storage or uninstalling it.

7. Your choices and rights

Advertising: reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalization in your device settings.
Purchases: manage or cancel subscriptions through your Google Play account.
Local data: clear it by uninstalling the App or clearing its storage.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access or deletion) under laws like the GDPR or CCPA. Contact us using the details below and we will respond as required by applicable law.

8. International users

The third-party services used by CalmPaws may process and store information on servers located in countries other than your own. By using the App, you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in those locations in accordance with the third parties' privacy policies.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected at the same URL where this policy is published. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
